Salvo
is a South African bmx frame maker. It all started almost 30 years ago
when two kids picked up riding their bmxes after school. A pretty
normal thing
for any 13 year old kid around the world. We however came from a very
conservative town where bmx was dead. The only contact to the rest of
the riding world
was
BMX Action magazine which we ripped apart from cover to cover. Those
days there was no Internet or videos. We were 2 kids who were in their
own world.
After
years of learning and studying BMX (and riding of course) we still
have the same fire and passion for riding. Our roots are set in racing
but we like to dabble
in
the freestyle scene too. Riding a bike was never only one discipline to
us. Now that we are "grown up"sort of we have the skills and means to
pursue frame
building.
We aim to make bikes that appeal to us first and hopefully our designs
will be liked by the rest of the scene too. With new psych and approach
to the business
of building bikes we hope to see more Salvo riders on race tracks and trails in 2012.
